Tune: DBF – Going Back (Quextal remix)

Yes I’ve finally got a tune coming out… my remix of Digital Breaks Foundation‘s “Going Back” will be released, along with the original and further remixes by Ghettface and Big Mistake, on VIM Breaks, hopefully next month. It’s an acid-drenched epic breaks monster! Here’s a preview:

Mix: Quexotic Adventures #027:

Last scheduled NSB show of the year, so as well as this fortnight’s promos we looked back at 2010 with some of my favourite tracks, artists and labels of the year.

During the show I was struck by the quality of tunes that have come out on the new Ukrainian label Rune Recordings this year; in fact they pretty much immediately established themselves as one of the world’s finest imprints for progressive breaks, and as a result they have now been awarded a place on my watchlist. Keep up the good work guys!

Mix: Quexotic Adventures #025:
First Birthday

QA is one year old! To celebrate this momentous occasion, we had exclusive tracks from Triple Agent and Re:Creation (thanks guys!), and I rummaged around for some of my favourite breaks tracks of years gone by to play alongside the current and future releases.

A little while after my show finished I went back on to cover as the next DJ had been called away in an emergency (hope all’s ok there AP), so there’s a little bonus mix for you below the main one.

Thanks to everyone who’s supported the show over the past year, and special shouts to Mobius (for getting me onto NSB in the first place some years earlier), and LuQas (for giving me this peachy peaktime slot). This week I turned over most of the show to a guest mix from Peaceful (this colour in the tracklist), who hails from over the pond in Charlotte NC, and what a great mix it is too, full of quality tunes and building nicely from progressive to tougher breaks.
