Psybreaks fans in the North of England, get thee to the Mersey on 12th October for night of “booming breaks and drum’n’bass” with a killer lineup featuring Hedflux, Kwah and Quextal! A good variety of other genres also representing, including dnb, jungle, dubstep and glitch. It’s gonna be epic!
This time around we start out on a deeper vibe – glitchy, techy and trippy – rolling smoothly up through some sunny progressive breaks with a funky twist – and finishing up with proper chunky psybreaks. Two gigs in two nights coming up, and in both cases I’m privileged to be among an all-star cast of psybreaks and psytrance.
First up, on Friday 7th September, Psychoactive Records brings a stellar lineup to the Talking Heads in Southampton for Higher Dimensions II. Featuring the mighty Neurodriver, Unconscious Mind(s), Re:Creation in both his live A/V psytrance and DJ psybreaks (Peak) guises, and Snook and Quextal complete the lineup. No fillers here – and it’s only a fiver.
Then the next evening up at the Union club in Vauxhall, London, a very special night with two rooms of psytrance, psybreaks, progressive and more. It’s a kinda wedding and birthday celebration but this lineup is too good to keep to ourselves to it’s open to the public. Just £10 for 10 hours of entertainment! Check this lineup: Neuroplasm (Live), Organic Hybrid (Live), Savage Circuit (Live), Beatnik, Liquid Ross, Mr Strangelove, Zarvox, Fordy, Niquid, Mr Mush, Andrew Rushton, Katty Grooves, Misskey Piskey, Spindrift, Azuhax23, Filthy Peasant, Amethyst and of course myself Quextal.
Not quite live, but recorded live a day in advance of broadcast due to other commitments. This is the first half of the show that went out, featuring the latest and greatest trippin’ breaks. The second half was a promo mix that I made a few months ago – I haven’t included it here because it, or something like it, will appear separately in due course…

A particularly scorchio set of promos and new releases this week. Kwah‘s Proton Perspective, which regular listeners will know I’ve been caning for months now, finally gets released with a boatload of quality remixes, which I couldn’t choose between so had to play them all… The label behind that release, the mighty RUNE Recordings, also came out with a very interesting new album from M_Spark which I just had to play a couple of tracks from despite it being at a difficult tempo to fit into a breaks mix, and there’s more excellent promo action from the ever versatile VIM imprint, plus the pick of the week’s other promos and new releases.
