If you’ve been struggling to get through all the recent 4+ hour shows, you’ll be pleased to hear that this month’s Interstitial clocks in at a mere 3½ Although since I only just posted December’s, you may have quite a lot of catching up to do…

Warning: it starts off very glitchy: I think I inadvertantly lost a few listeners in the first minute who thought there must be a technical problem. Oops. Nope, it’s just a weird intro track from P&G…

After the intro we kick off with two of my latest artist discoveries: dope crunky beats from Opiuo, and blissed out fusion sounds from The Nasha Experience. Then we go delving into the darker, glitchier side of psybreaks and electro for a while. That leads into some techy and progressive 4/4s, before we bring the breaks back on an epic trippy nuskool tip, throwing in some techno and tech-funk for good measure, and finally bringing you down gently with a more chilled dub-tech breakbeat vibe.

Mix: Quexotic Adventures #003:

Another epic extended show… I carried on past the end of my allotted 2 hours as someone was supposed to be covering the next show but had said he might be a little bit late. In the end he didn’t turn up until nearly the end of that show, so I ended up doing the full 4 hour double feature. Download this mix, and the recent 5+ hour BrapFM marathon, onto your mp3 player, and you’re equipped with enough first-class choonage to survive almost any journey. Except maybe Eurostar.

Here we’ve got mostly my intoxicating special blend of the fortnight’s finest new releases and backcat discoveries in psybreaks, progressive breaks, neck-tingling nuskool, electrifying electro, twisted tech-breaks… and our first tentative foray on NSB into something that could be described as techno (but it’s Robosapiens so it must be ok). But just for shizzles, around the halfway mark as a kind of interlude we go on a brief tour of some classic oldskool hardcore and jungle techno from 1992-1994ish. This section doesn’t exactly fit with the flow to either side… hopefully this lump of strange-sounding foreign material is sufficiently colourful that you won’t find it too obtrusive…

Cheers to everyone who tuned in and especially the chatroom crew. We had an enjoyable 3 hour odyssey from breaks to progressive to techno, back to breaks with a few cheeky slabs of darkfloor electro, a smidge of exceptionally rare high-class dubstep, and then an assortment of blissful psychill. Mix: Live on NSB 27th Oct 2008

Previously on NSB I’ve tended to stick to breaks. Tonight though I decided to loosen that rule: while still centred on psy/tech/elek-breaks, I moved freely out to chill, electro-house, and even a bit of progressive trance. I think it paid off, this was definitely my best and most enjoyable NSB show so far, and the chatroom crew seemed to like it too Cheers to everyone who tuned in, and thanks to Ali for asking me to cover.

Mix: Live on NSB Radio (last minute cover)

The DJ who was supposed to be covering Ali’s show had some kind of technology-related disaster, and by the time I tuned in there was dead air, so I jumped on to cover for the cover, so to speak, hence why this is only 72 minutes instead of 120.
