Mix: Live on Brap FM 2nd Feb 2009

We commenced with some chunky prog house, followed by a bit of electro house. There was plenty of breaks of the tech-, psy- and prog- varieties, we had a bit of progressive psytrance, then finished with some more psybreaks. Psychedelic Saturday @ The Hobbit 31st Jan 2009

If you’re in the Southampton area get yourselves down to The Hobbit on Saturday 31st January where I’m playing at a night called Psychedelic Saturday. All psy-styles are represented from the 60s to now, but with an emphasis on the more modern and danceable stuff 🙂 I’ll be playing…well…the psy edge of what I normally play, ie psy-breaks, psy-trance, psy-techno, psy-wonk, psy-dnb… you get the picture… should be an awesome party 🙂 Music runs 8pm – 1am, it’s free entry before 10pm, £2 after, and the bar stays open until 3. Mixes: Live in Bristol and Southampton

Finally, here are the recordings of my sets from the Void vs Brap Tour in Southampton and Bristol, way back through the mists of time in November 2008. I haven’t listened back to these in full yet, I hope they’re ok!

The Southampton gig was loads of fun, not least because most of the tunes I played I’d bought only a few hours before the gig, so they were almost as new to me as the punters. There was a great atmosphere on the dancefloor for my whole set. So yeah I got carried away and played a really lame remix of What Time Is Love, but these things happen sometimes…

The Bristol gig was an odd one from the DJ’s perspective: inside a pub, mid-afternoon, low volume, speakers in front of the DJ projecting away and no monitors, so basically I couldn’t hear the main mix at all, yet somehow I seem to have pulled off a reasonable quality of mixing; possibly even better than Southampton’s where I occasionally got a bit lost in the moment…

I wasn’t in charge of recording these so they’re only 128k, sorry. But the quality is pretty reasonable.

Mix: Live on NSB 27th Oct 2008

Previously on NSB I’ve tended to stick to breaks. Tonight though I decided to loosen that rule: while still centred on psy/tech/elek-breaks, I moved freely out to chill, electro-house, and even a bit of progressive trance. I think it paid off, this was definitely my best and most enjoyable NSB show so far, and the chatroom crew seemed to like it too 🙂 Cheers to everyone who tuned in, and thanks to Ali for asking me to cover.
