Couldn’t have hoped for a better turnout and reaction for the first chapter of my new residency 🙂
True to the show’s remit we jumped around the genres, but kept it mostly upbeat for this week, alternating between psybreaks, progressive psytrance and chunky techno most of the way, serving up the dark and the uplifting, the deep, the epic and the glitchy… and finally closing out with some choice dubstep.
Big love to all those who tuned in and the many who made the effort to register just to present themselves in the chatroom, you are all stars! Hope you can join me for the next one on Tue 1st Sept @ 7pm

Been a while in the planning this, but I’m delighted to announce that my new twice-a-month show on PsyMusic begins next Tuesday 18th August @ 7pm (UK), and thereafter on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. (Want to join a reminder service?)
The show is called Tales of the Interstitial (all the other PsyMusic shows have strange names, I didn’t want to feel left out…) and every fortnight we’ll be setting sail on a journey across the many faces of psychedelic electronica, floating effortlessly between psybreaks, progressive psytrance, psytechno and psychill, and particularly trying to find the lost chords in the spaces between… in the interstitial…
One of the significant differences between this show and the others that I’ve been involved with, is there’s no official finishing time. I plan to do at least 2 hours, but it may be 2.5, 3, 4… it all depends on you, the listeners, to get into the chatroom and bring your influence to bear! On PsyMusic the chatroom is called the ShoutBox and it’s on the forum front page (different to the main homepage of the site), or here’s a bigger version. You need to be registered on the forum to use it (registration is free of course). It looks and feels just like an IRC-based chat (like Brap or NSB), but apparently it isn’t really IRC so you can’t use your own client.
Together we will weave a journey… a story. Let’s make it epic.

My occasional series of late-notice covers for random NSB DJs continues… this time I was standing in for JoeBot. His normal tune selection doesn’t have a lot of overlap with mine anyway, so I threw caution to the wind and, alongside some beautiful progressive breaks to lull you into a false sense of security, went through some styles of breaks that don’t seem to get much airing on NSB: deep hypnotic, progressive acid, chopped-up glitchy, growly electro zap… a quick dip in the funky sea of midtempo glitch-dub in the middle… and other stuff that Addictech might categorise as “Heavy” and “Dope”.
It seemed to go down well. For most of the show NSB was the most listened to breaks netradio station in the world, with about 30 more listeners than DI Breaks. Might have happened before but I’ve never seen it. Thanks to everyone who tuned in and all those supporting in the chatroom.
Very special thanks to Mike Metacognition – a good number of the tunes played tonight were introduced to me by him. The man has outstanding taste, so I plan to get him along as a guest on a future show. Respect. Ahh Yeh.
Thanks also to Ian @ Dead Famous for the fine promos.

I’d bought a lot of glitch and weirdness for tonight, way outside my normal field of operation… In the end it didn’t infect the show to the extent I’d anticipated… trying to cover too many styles in 2 hours perhaps… but nonetheless, we start with a good chunk of “selections from the other side” before drifting into progressive breaks/house/techno, pulling back into some deeper techno territory, and then building up into a high-voltage electrobreaks finish. Greetings to everyone who tuned in and helped to set a new record number of listeners 🙂 Let’s see if we can beat it next month… full details of the reminder services are on the contact page 🙂
